Zero Project Conference 2018-Accessability
On February 21st to 23rd 2018, representatives from 105 countries presented innovative practices, policies and social indicators aiming to remove barriers for people with disabilities in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The participants discussed all aspects of accessibility for all kinds of disabilities, with emphasis on assistive technology and ICT technology.
Innovations were shown in the area of technology (various smartphone apps) and aids. Each participant could sample any aid and, for example, move on the blind tracks, with barrier recognition, read with the help of magnifiers, try out various tactile models, wheelchairs, and so on.
Advisor Andreja Makar from the Office of Ombudsperson for Persons with Disabilities participated at the conference.
The occasion marked 10 years of Zero Project, and the Project’s hymn was presented for the first time. As an expression of gratitude to the United Nations for providing the space where the conference is held since 2012, a painting symbolically showing a world without barriers was presented.
