“Swedish and Croatian Dads” Exhibition

As part of the Dads Festival held on April 20 at the Forum Gallery in Zagreb (16 Nikola Tesla Street) exhibition titled Swedish and Croatian Dads was opened. The exhibition is part of the Swedish Dads project by the Swedish Institute and Swedish photographer Johan Bavman, which was shown in some 10 countries around the world so far.

The exhibition showed 25 photographs of fathers from Croatia which were collected through the #SUPERTATA (SUPERDAD) campaign.

This truly interesting exhibition shows photographs of fathers who decided to stay home with their children for at least six months in different everyday situations.

Numerous research has shown that being stay-at-home parents changed the men’s relationship with their children, as well as the way they see household chores and the division of family responsibilities. Within the festival framework we could hear that, out of 1,000 fathers in Croatia, only two use their paternity, and four their paternal leave.

The exhibition is open until April 22 in the Forum Gallery.

Ombudswoman’s Deputies Mira Pekec-Knezevic and Darijo Jurisic represented the Office of the Ombudswoman for Persons with Disabilities at the exhibition opening.
